A business trip and a day out in Heidelberg

At the beginning of last week, I had to fly to Germany for a business trip in Karlsruhe. For whatever reason, I couldn’t log in to the plane’s WiFi network, so I had to spend the whole flight in airplane mode. After the initial frustration, I realised that it was a perfect opportunity to exercise my sketching skills, so I took out my sketchbook and made an attempt at drawing the cabin.

The story of Menix

We payed a visit to my parents this weekend. Every time I open the gate to drive the car into the yard, Menix, who lives in the kennel on the other side, gets up and wags his tail with joy. My parents adopted him a long time ago when they found this stubborn stray puppy breaking into their garden for the third time. It was a good match – they didn't have a dog at the time, and he was looking for an owner.

Three bell peppers and a tomato

This week, for the first time in years, I bought a couple of colored pencils. My plan is to use them on the pen and ink portraits I draw on my commute, so I chose a few colors suitable for rendering skin tones. As I haven't yet had the chance to test them for their intended purpose, I thought it would be interesting to try them out on a scene with similar hues. To this end, I set up a still life using some fresh vegetables that my parents had just picked from the garden.
