Hello, and welcome!

My name is Marius Necula, and I’m a self-taught artist living in Bucharest, Romania.
I’ve been drawn to visual arts for as long as I can remember.
We’ve all heard the story: We loved drawing as kids, but somehow lost the time, energy, and passion as life got in the way. That was my experience, too.
Later in my twenties, I picked up the pencil again and remembered how much fun it was to create entire worlds on paper. I also got interested in the idea of becoming a concept artist, so I started playing around with digital painting. It was my first experience with painting, and it was then when I started studying perspective, artistic anatomy, and color theory.
Although I didn’t end up changing careers — I’ve been working in IT since graduating college — my passion for drawing and painting only grew stronger. A few years ago, I discovered watercolor and fell in love with it. It was a love-hate relationship that became more loving once I decided to take it seriously and invest more time and effort into it.
Since I didn’t have much time to paint, I started sketching. It’s a convenient mix of drawing and watercolor that I can do in spare moments throughout the day. For this reason, my sketchbook has been my constant companion, living permanently in one of my pockets.
This blog is meant to be a record of my creative journey as well as a way to connect with you, my reader, wherever you may be.
I hope you enjoy my work, and I look forward to hearing from you.
